Get Ready for Course Registration!

Before enroling in courses, make sure you have your Duo MFA set up! You won't be able to login to your Student Center if you don't have MFA. To set up your MFA, follow the steps on our website.

Prepare for the Fall/Winter Term

It is time to start planning for the upcoming academic year. Review the information below to ensure you are fully prepared for course registration.

Student Center Refresher

If you need help using Student Center, review the following tutorials:

Check your Adjudication Comments and Intent to Register Results

Before selecting courses, review the following in Student Center:

  • Your adjudication comments and Intent to Register results
  • Your 2025–26 Fall/Winter Grade Report (Student Center → Academics → Academic Program → Grade Report Progression → Grade Report tab)

Grade reports are released throughout the summer as faculties finalize progression decisions. You can expect to see your results the week before registration begins for your year.

Review your approved program, year and module (Student Center > Academics > Academic Program) and review your course requirements (available on Draft My Schedule > Degree Requirements). If you are an upper-year student, ensure you follow the Western Calendar for your entry year.

Plan Your Schedule

Begin researching and planning your courses as early as possible. Use Draft My Schedule to build a conflict-free timetable. Remember:

  • If planning to join a waitlist, enrol in a backup course and then swap into the waitlist
  • Ensure all course requirements are met, including pre-requisites, co-requisites, and anti-requisites
  • Please note that many courses also have registration restrictions. It is your responsibility to ensure you meet all requirements.
  • To determine which courses to take, review your module requirements in the Academic Calendar

FAQs

How do I move my schedule from Draft My Schedule to Student Center to register?

Follow our step-by-step instructions to move the courses to your Enrolment Cart.

What if the course says "not full" on the web version of the timetable but comes up as "full" when I try to register?

This happens when you do not meet the priority or restriction placed on the course. You may not get special permission to avoid these situations.

Do I have to chat with the Helpline for help to enrol in every course I want to take if I have transfer credits?

No, you will not have to reach out the Helpline unless one of your transfer credits is considered to be the pre-requisite or co-requisite for the course you would like to enroll in.

What is a requisite?

There are different types of requisites:

  • Pre-requisites – a course that must be successfully completed prior to registration for credit in the desired course;
  • Co-requisites – a course that must be taken concurrently with (or prior to registration in) the desired course; and
  • Anti-requisites – a course that overlaps sufficiently in course content that both cannot be taken for credit. An anti-requisite is not equal to a pre-requisite unless you see in the Western Calendar that the course will accept it.

What is the difference between a priority and a restriction?

A Priority is when students in specific degrees/modules have the first opportunity to register. If a course has a priority, you can add yourself to the waiting list (not all courses have waitlists; you can only add yourself to a course waitlist if the option is available) to see if you would qualify for a space when the priority lifts.
A restriction is when only students in specific degrees/modules/campus may register in that course.

Note: Special permission is not normally granted to students who do not meet priorities since these are in place so program students can get courses to be able to graduate.

Can a Main Campus student take a course offered at an Affiliate College

Provided the course is not offered on Main Campus, it is not a required course for your module and the priorities lift, yes.

How will I know when a special permission is added to my record?

To view special permissions click the Academics tile and then the Permissions & Transfer Credit tile and choose Special Permissions.

I want to swap a lab or tutorial. Can I do so without dropping and re-adding the lecture section?

Yes, review our Swapping a Lab or Tutorial information.
