What Is Your Western ONECard?

 Your Western ONECard is more than just a Photo ID Card. The Western ONECard functions as an identification card for exams and bus pass; is your library card; your meal plan card; and can be used for door access and vending machine purchases.  It is also required to access Campus Recreation and to pick up a parking permit or keys.

Photo Instructions for Your Western ONECard

Upload a Photo

The photo upload service for the Western ONECard is now available through the Student Center. We encourage you to upload your photo by Thursday, August 15th to ensure that your Western ONECard is ready to be picked up when you arrive on campus.

If you upload your photo after August 15th, you can pick up your Western ONECard at Student Central beginning Tuesday, September 3rd. (Student Central’s location and office hours). 

Please follow the Western ONECard Photo Standards by uploading a photo of yourself:

  • Without headphones or sunglasses, looking straight into the camera
  • That is a headshot of your entire face
  • That is not a scan of another photograph or your driver’s license or health card
  • That is good quality, not blurry or grainy or too dark
  • That is in colour, not black and white and has no filters


Take Your Photo at Student Central

If you do not wish to upload a photo, you may have your photo taken at Student Central. Student Central’s location and office hours.

Where and When to Pick Up Your Western ONECard

Students Living in Residence

If you upload your photo by August 15th, you will receive your Western ONECard with your residence move-in package. You will be required to show GOVERNMENT-ISSUED PHOTO IDENTIFICATION when you pick up your card.

If you do not receive your Western ONECard when you move into your residence, please visit Student Central (Student Central’s location and office hours). 

Students Living Off-Campus

If you upload your photo by August 15th, you can pick up your Western ONECard in Mustang Lounge on Sunday, September 1st or Monday, September 2nd between 10am and 4pm or in Student Central beginning September 3rd (Student Central’s location and office hours). You will be required to show GOVERNMENT-ISSUED PHOTO IDENTIFICATION when you pick up your card.

Brescia Students

If you uploaded or had your photo taken prior to August 15th, you can pick up your Western ONECard from Brescia. Western ONECards are available for pick up in the first week of September! Students who are living in residence, can pick up their cards at Brescia on move-in day. Off-Campus students can pick up their cards during the first week of September. A pick up schedule with dates and times will be available in late August.

Huron Students

If you uploaded or had your photo taken prior to August 15th, you can pick up your Western ONECard from Huron. Students who are living in residence, can pick up their cards at Huron on move-in day. All other first-year students can pick up their card from Huron’s Registrar’s Office the first week of September.

Education Students

If you uploaded or had your photo taken prior to August 15th you can pick up your Western ONECard from the Faculty of Education.

Law Students

If you uploaded or had your photo taken prior to August 15th you can pick up your Western ONECard from the Faculty of Law.

What to bring when you pick up your WesternONECard

To pick up your Western ONECard you must present one piece of government-issued photo identification such as:

  • Driver’s license;
  • Citizenship card;
  • Passport;
  • Other government-issued photo ID.
