External Awards

The following scholarships, bursaries and awards are offered by external organizations. The University's role is only to advertise the existence of these awards to the University Community. Inquiries regarding these awards should be made by contacting the organization through the links provided.

Note: Provided here are only those external scholarships, bursaries and awards with a value of $4,000 and above. External scholarships, bursaries and awards valued at less than $4,000 are posted on the Scholarship Bulletin board across from the Financial Aid Office (Room 1100, Western Student Services Building).

Scholarship Name: Fesseden-Trott Scholarship

Value: $9,000 (this scholarship is tenable for up to three consecutive years or until the first bachelor degree is obtained).

Field of Study: For students who have completed their first year of their first bachelor degree program. Applicants who have undertaken prior postsecondary studies will not be eligible.

Deadline to Request Nomination: May 15, 2017. This is the deadline for students to submit their application and request for nomination. All submitted applications will be reviewed and an application will be selected for a nomination. Western University will nominate 1 student. Interested students wanting to be considered for a nomination need to submit their application in person to the Office of the Registrar, room 1120, Western Student Services Building by 4:00pm.

Application Deadline: Completed applications (with nomination) to be received by Universities Canada by June 15, 2017.

Scholarship Name: Electro-Federation Canada Scholarship Program

Value: Multiple scholarships with varying values up to $5,000

Field of Study: Varies. Disciplines which target a career in the Electrical industry.

Scholarship Name: 2017 Scholarship Program for Aboriginal Students

Value: $5,000 each (three scholarships available at the bachelor's degree level) and $3,500 each (two scholarships available at the diploma level)

Field of Study: Varies.

Application Deadline: May 31, 2017

Scholarship Name: C.D. Howe Scholarship Endowment Fund National Engineering Scholarship

Value: $7,500 each (two scholarships available at the bachelor's degree level)

Field of Study: Engineering.

Application Deadline: May 29, 2017 (application) and June 15, 2017 (supporting documentation)

Scholarship Name: Litwiniuk & Company Personal Injury Law Scholarship

Value: $5,000

Field of Study: Law students in any year of study, tort law.

Scholarship Name: Loran Award

Value:  Annual stipend of $9,000 for four years of undergraduate study from the Loran Scholars Foundation, plus annual tuition waiver from Western University.

Field of Study:  Full-time undergraduate studies in any program.  Students must apply in final year of high school or CEGEP.
