External Awards

Below are scholarships, bursaries and awards offered by external organizations that Western is involved in administering. Other external scholarship, award and bursary offerings that Western is made aware of are posted on the bulletin board across from the Financial Aid Office (Room 1100, Western Student Services Building). This webpage and the bulletin board do not offer a comprehensive list of the external scholarships, awards and bursaries available; we would encourage you to conduct your own search for external funding.


 Scholarship Name:  Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Endowment Fund for Study in a Second Official Language Award Program

 Value: $7,000 (Up to two awards at the bachelor's degree level)

 Field of Study:  All disciplines.  Applicant must currently be registered full-time in their second or third year of their first bachelor's degree program.

Application Deadline: In order to be considered for this award program students must receive a nomination from their university (each university may nominate one candidate). If you wish to be considered for a nomination for this award program you must submit your complete application package to the Student Financial Services office (room 1120 Western Student Services Building)  by noon on January 7, 2019.

Scholarship Name: Loran Award

Value:  Each Loran award is valued at $100,000 including an annual stipend of $10,000 and tuition waiver from Western University, access to $10,000 in funding for summer internships, one-on-one mentorship and annual retreats and scholar gatherings.

Field of Study:  Full-time undergraduate studies in any program.  Students must apply in final year of high school or CEGEP.  

Application Deadline: mid-to-late October, annually.
